Aaregg Campsite, Brienz
Aaregg Familiencampingplatz is a campsite situated in one of the most picturesque locations in Switzerland, with 360-degree mountain views, lush greenery and one of the bluest lakes we have ever seen. This luxury 5-star campsite has everything you need and is perfect for solo travellers, couples and families alike.
Location
Aaregg campsite is right on the banks of arguably one of the most stunning lakes in all of Switzerland, Lake Brienz. A short 15-minute walk and you’ll find yourself immersed in the typical Swiss chalet village of Brienz, a small town and municipality on the northern shore of Lake Brienz and at the foot of the Brienzer Rothorn mountain. From here, you can access the fantastic Bus and Train Services where you can reach Interlaken in less than 20 minutes which is a great place to explore or take one of the many amazing mountain trips you can do in Switzerland.
Here’s a couple of video reels from our Instagram profile which give you a really good perspective of the location of Aaregg campsite.
In terms of location and scenery, if you want blue lakes, mountains and that typical Swiss chalet feel, you will struggle to beat this. There are some stunning places in Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald, but they aren’t near any Lakes.
Facilities
Aaregg campsite has every type of facility you could want and some of the best we have ever experienced on a campsite in Switzerland. Here’s an overview of all the facilities available:

Some of the highlights of the facilities for us were the children’s separate toilets and showers with animal shower heads, the dishwashers (since when did campsites have dishwashers ๐คฏ), the water park pontoon on the Lake, and the huge play park for the younger ones.
It’s worth mentioning here that whilst this campsite doesn’t have its own swimming pool, just next door within a 10-minute walk or a swim; you can access to the public Lido, which has a beach, a 3-tier swimming pool and also an onsite restaurant and children’s play park.
Accommodation & Pitch Types
You can choose 3 different types of accommodation at the Aaregg Familiencampingplatz campsite. You’ll have the choice of one of the many camping pitches they offer, or you could decide to stay in one of their 4 camping huts or 9 bungalows available for rent.
There are 4 plot options for the camping pitches. A standard plot which is a basic small pitch usually furthest away from the facilities, a Royal plot which is a large hardstanding serviced pitch with water and waste connection, a Lake plot which is a small hardstanding pitch directly on the Lake or a Royal Lake plot which is a larger lakeside pitch with water and waste connection.
Things To Do in Brienz
Aside from swimming in the bluest Lake you’ll ever see or enjoying some of the fantastic facilities on Aaregg Campsite, here are some of the most popular things to do in Brienz:
1. Brienz Rothorn Bahn
Admire the breathtaking views as you climb more than 2,000 metres to the top of the Rothorn Mountain on the Brienz Rothorn Steam Railway. Great for views over the stunning Lake Brienz and no fewer than 693 mountain peaks.
2. Boat Hire or Cruises
Enjoy some time on the beautiful turquoise Lake Brienz, hire a boat from camping Aaregg or Pirate Bay Nautical Center and explore on your own or opt to take a Lake Cruise guided tour from the Brienz boat dock.
These are just 3 of many things you can do in Brienz; however, it’s worth noting that Interlaken, which is just a 20-minute train ride away, is arguably one of the best central locations in Switzerland to experience many trips and excursions.
